Take buster pleco

I was in a lfs today and they had a tank set up that was nothing but fish that were bring ins that (duh) out grew there tanks. Well One of them was a common pleco. This thing was all of 18" BUT it had this NASTY cruve in its spine it was about three inches back from its eyes and it was a very pronounced curve. I tried to get a pic but none of them came out (damn cell camera)

Is this something that happens alot or is this just an extream case of neglect ?

Aw thats a shame eh. Never seen it myself but fish get curved spines for all sorts of reasons. Being dropped when young is one main one lol. COuld it be his old tank was to small? Who knows?
