It would be improper feeding. Why? Because when they are still "babies", you can't feed them foods that are hard, since they are still developing.

Most of the time they should be fed, blood worms, brine shrimp, plankton that has been presoaked to soften it up. Feeders can cause problems too, if they are diseased and such.

Most people don't quarantine the feeders for 2 weeks to make sure there is no outbreak of disease, which is another cause of death for the aro.

Harder foods, prawn, krill etc..should be fed when the aro is big enough..lets say 4-6" or so.

Another factor is when people buy the aro with the sac, they try to feed it. DON'T. Let the sac get absorbed on its own, which will provide nutrients for the baby aro, after its gone then start feeding the softer foods.

Just think of the baby aro as a human baby...at that early stage its critcal to take care of them, if you don't you know the outcome. :irked:

i've fed ONLY pellets to previous arowanas i've had from the size of my pinky. i dont think its food in anyway. its just jumpers usually for more common deaths. my first arowana ever grew up ONLY on koi pellets. thats it. nothing else, nothing special, nothing. 1 sucky ass filter, 150gal tank, and koi pellets. only reason he passed away was the retarded move my mom made which was drain the water to 3" so it could be moved for her to paint the wall behind it.

wow, The baby feeding regime stated here seems like they're trying to kill the babies. They're so fragile when tiny, I don't feed my Aro's this way, ummmm I usually try to be nice on here, but this author rates about "idiot" status to me.

Nice find!

Tough one..... I have to go with 2, suicidal tendencies

Interesting find. I gotta say imo the biggest threat to them, like most other monster fish, is tank size. Silvers, most affordable accessable arowana, they get HUGE, and are mainly available when young. Then its uh-oh when they get too big.
