couple months into the build and already calling it quits for a while. Got school and football and work, and never really had anytime to enjoy it. The scaling was horrendous, fish boring, and got tired of having to clean 3 canisters almost weekly due to fish kicking up sand into them. So for now gonna pack things up. Hopefully I get back into the hobby soon, maybe with a smaller nice scaled tank or another large one planned out well and only sump haha.

Yeah it sucks having to get rid of it. Really wanted to get back into rays, but never had a chance. May just downsize for now and have a nice small planted community tank. Just the way I made this tank was too high maintanence. Gotta wake up bright and early as some people are coming to pick up the whole setup

That sand can be a pain in the butt.I got sick of it real quick.Which fish were you keeping?

  • Oh okay.

If i had to clean canister filters every week, I would quit to. Damn I hate those things.
Sounds like e filters only needed such cleanings because of the sand getting into them

Haha it was nuts. The fx6 one time almost had the whole bottom covered in sand. Got caught in the motor and would run so I had to take everything apart and get rid of every spec of sand

There is a reason I got rid of my fx5 and went with 3 ac110s. I hated cleaning that thing and I had only one to clean, can't imagine 3. Didn't you drill your tank and go with a sump? Why bother with canisters?
