Ive been thinking of improving my fish taking skills... my lighting is right down there in the gutter and my equipment isnt awe inspiring either. Any help on what kind of camera is good for taking quality fish pics? If you guys have any additional tips, please include it here also.

Thanks!!!

All my pictures are not excellent because I'm usually not that concerned with the quality. However I do have some really good ones. I use this old Fuji 1.3 MP. I like how I can do close-up focusing with it. I can also control the flash, light intake, and lightness of picture(digitally). It's a Fujifilm MX-1200. This thing only cost me about $350 years ago. I'm sure you could find it on ebay. I have gotten some incredible pictures from this camera. I have not been able to match it's quality with any digital I've bought since then. I haven't spent a lot of time on my fish pictures, but there is one of Mufasa( My lionfish) that I did try on. It's in my gallery. I think it's titled, "Mufasa".

I use a Kodak DX7590 and get decent results. I just wish it had manual focus.
I would def. get a camera that has adjustible settings (apeture, ISO, and shutter), a hotshoe (for remote flash) a great lens and a tripod is a must. Tons of WHITE light above the tank and a dark room will usually get you good pix without flash. The pix will look better without flash unless you can controll the flash output.

A lot of light helps to make better pictures.

thanks for the tip guys... i worked out my lighting issues ( i think ) and i also have a tripod
that i can use.. the only thing that i need to get is a decent slr camera. Ive had it with point and shoot cameras.. they wont be able the kind of macro shots that some of these guys take.

You can still get good pix with a regular "point and shoot"
Check out the fuji S5200 and the Kodak dx7590 if you dont want to drain your pockets. You can get decent shots with them but it will take more work to get them, opposed to using an SLR.
