hey guys, im pretty new to datnoids. i just recently bought my thinbar today with it a silver arowana in a 90 gal for now. they're about 5 inches each. i was just wondering, would taking out a drift wood affect my datnoid so much? it hides all the time. just wanna be able to see it more. it has a rock to hide in but just wondering if it would affect the datnoid if it wouldnt be able to have a big shelter. thanks guys, would appreciate the info.

i tried taking the driftwood out for ten minutes and i noticed that the dat got really aggressive towards the arowana. trying to claim territory i guess and chasing it if it gets too close, so scrap that idea. i might have to seperate them soon and put back the driftwood asap.

Welcome to the world of datnoids, they're wonderful fish :headbang2. I go with the policy of not putting any wood or rocks for my dats to hide if you want to be able to see your dats.

bryant's right man. no hiding spaces.

the arro will grow twice as fast as the dat

mine dont get aggressive.

my tank is bare the dats are more active and is eye pleasing lol

thanks buddy, but does your datnoid ever get aggressive when taking out hiding spaces? they are great fish!:headbang2
Dats get aggressive here and there, it's all normal :)

I agree with this, they don't hide and are more active

I am sorry guys I have to disagree. I understand your reasons, but I feel if the fish likes the shelter, give it to them. They will be happier for it and less stressed. In due time they will swim around. That's just my subjective opinion.

I'm with ade all the way, if the fish feels like hiding then let it.. the older/bigger the fish gets the more courage he will build and you will have a happy, active and outgoing dat. I think it is in their genes to hide when small as when you are a little guy most big guys will eat you.
