ok mfk'ers i'm looking at buying a DSLR camera to take some decent shots of my fish.
im looking at the Nikon D3000 or Sony A390 - which should i buy? i have no idea what features i should be looking for in order to make a decision??? so if anyone knows what is the best choice for me or offer any advice or even an alternative for a camera in this price range i would be grateful - thanks :headbang2

I can not say which to buy but I think Nikon makes the best cameras. My next camera will be a HD.

Between Sony and Nikon, i would choose the Nikon if only for the reason they've been making cameras for years and thats what the specialize in... not to mention you'll probably be able to get more lens for the Nikon then the Sony...

i think you have just made my mind up for me! ^^^

what lens are you using?

that aro pic is what im looking to be able to produce - stunning pic!

I say Nikon (or Canon), simply because they have massive aftermarket support and you can get great deals on used lenses. I don't think I've ever seen used Sony DSLR equipment. You can get some really good deals on your local CL.

definately a nikon then - are they fairly easy to use?
they seem pretty complicated for a camera noob like myself!

Yeah I think they're very easy to use. They have several auto shooting modes like any point-n-shoot. And once you understand exposure basics (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) you can work on the advanced modes, and full manual mode.
