my 150g had 2 fx5's on it was working well but both were setup for bio mostly... and wasn't getting the crystal clear water like I use to, so I opted for another filter and well I ended up getting a wicked deal on a used fx5 so I packed it full of sponge hahaa, one layer 3 filter floss pads, another layer 2 filter floss and one fine filter, and last layer with carbon to help reduce any smell .... so after a couple days we will see what 3 fx5s can do for a 150g tank hahahah :D

If you were to properly set up the two FX5s you would not have needed to waste money on a third.

Filters are not the be all and end all answer to water clarity or quality. If you have a properly setup filter, in a properly cycled aquarium but do not have water clarity; it would be wise to investigate other possible causes of which there are many.

I consider this over filtration lol

3 fx5's on a 150 isnt to overkill but im pretty sure two could have done the job. You should look into adding septic tank bacteria. Its basically the same thing as the BB sold in lfs's but way cheaper. It should boost your water quality through the roof.

ya that's a lot of sponge to clean he has in there jesus hahahahaha...... yea 2 fx5 were keeping it clean but not crystal clean like id like/want my tank at.... bio load is kinda heavy so 2 fx2 are for BB basically ... my stand isn't large enough to have a sump underneath it either
