Well, I've seen a lot of threads of gigas here, but since there is no "particular" stick to them, I thought of sharing some experiences here.
If you all agree, let's talk this beuty monsters, like why you got one (or two, three, four...), the best water paramenters, what you feed them, this kind of things.
That way, someone who wants to have one, or just got one, may find here some good infos about them.
What you think ???
Starting with me:
I got two of these really nice monsters for some reasons.
1 - I always got impressed at the size oh them, and when I found out they could be created home, I got my first one.
2 - It may sound a little strange, but its a brasilian fish (too), and since I'm from Brasil, I"d love to have at least one of them, see it growing and all.
I feed them with a very commom fish here called lambari
(Astianax spp.), adult is about 6 to 7cm.
Sometimes a goldfish, and small koi. Pellets sometimes too, but prefers live food.
Water at 26°C - about 76°F, after all we're talking about a tropical fish.
pH betwen 6.8 to 7.2
My tank has 1000 liters, with two Sarlobeter pumps, home made filters.
I think its all for now.
Hope all you gigas lovers agree with this idea.
