I've had my 12-13" Aba Aba knife for about a month now. When I got it, he or she was a little bit skinny. There was a noticeable concaved area right behind its head. I have power fed it a couple of times per day since I received it. I use earthworms, white shrimp, live feeder fish that I raised my self, sinking carnivore pellets, ect... I do 30-50% water changes twice per week. It's housed in a 40 gallon breeder tank. My water is hard, and my tap water ph is 7.5+/-. My question is how do I get it to come up to the surface to feed and to actively hunt when I introduce live food, like I see on videos on the internet. My idea is to starve it a little bit now that I've thickened it up a little bit. Any suggestions? I've always been of the opinion that 10 heads are better than one. If you have a way that you've used in the past to get your Aba Aba to be more personable, please let me know. It's housed by itself by the way, and only a 4" PVC pipe to hide in. Thanks alot friends.

Skip the feeders. Just give it pellets. It won't let itself starve, IMO.

It will get bolder once it gets bigger. Much bigger than a foot. The larger specimens are usually in the open.

It eats the pellets when it's hungry, doesn't like the texture mind you, but it eats them after 24 hrs of no food. Why that suggestion? Just better overall nutrition and health?
