okay, so heres the deal. im gonna get another tank but i am not sure if i should get a 125 long or a 180 and want to put in (for life) 4 burundi fronts, 5 black calvus, 5 goldhead comps, 5 sexfasciatus golds,
1 julidochromis marlieri, 6 neolamprolologus brichardi, 5 neolamprologus leleupi, 5 neolamprologus tretocephalus and maybe 5 lamprologus ocellatus blue or just keep them in my 20 long. anyways, im not worried about breeding just thought it would be a nice community having them have their own piece of area in the tank and watching them mingle. tell me your thoughts or experiences! thanks!

Of course you should get the bigger tank...lol

true but if theyd be comfortable spending their life in a 125 long id rather get that for under $300 instead of a 180 thats close to $500. but if theyd be cramped i would drop more paper for the 180....

so would they be fine in a 125 long or better off in a 180?

That's way to many fish for a 125 or a 180. I would stop after the Sexfasciatus Gold for the 1st tank and that would be at least a 180G. The other fish, Leleupi, Brichardis and Marlieri would work together in another tank...say a 75g. The Tretocephulus get exteremely aggresive once they pair off and I would say that you would need to make a decision on how bad you want them. I would not keep them with Front's either. The Ocellatus should also be housed alone. This is based on my experiences.

yeah, your right! just wanna see how many fish i could get away with and everything after the sexfasciatus gold and before the ocellatus are fish on my add list.

the calvus, fronts, sexfasciatuses, and gh comps +5 neolamprologus tretocephalus in the 180.

then a 75 for

1 julidochromis marlieri, 6 neolamprolologus brichardi, 5 neolamprologus leleupi,

keep the occies in the 20

fronts will eat shellies in time...

yeah, theyll eat anything they can fit in their mouths! i was planning on stacking lava rocks (like a dome) on light crates on one end with the shells undercover so that the fronts couldnt squeeze through or dig to get to them. just a thought. i decided to keep my ocellatus blues in my 20 long and decided that im gonna just put the fronts, calvus, comps, and sex golds in the larger tank.

I also worry the 4 fronts is a small group to keep together... maybe make it 7 in a 180

i started with 12. lost most due to a poweroutage during the fires here in california and the others commited "Jisatu". would it be cool to add more from a different group or would it be war?

I fear that the lava rock will be too rough for the fronts. Try something smoother... Texas Holey Rock, limestone for around you, anything smooth...

You could attempt it and see what happpens... a couple would be worth a try.
