hello peeps,im a new member to monsterfishkeepers.com.Im a freshwater fish hobbyist who is currently collecting tanganyikan cichlids but i appreciate all freshwater fish...Anyways ,anybody who is into Tanganyikan cichlids hit me up and maybe we can help each other out.I currently own close to 40 tanganyikans.Im also part of the C.O.A.S.T fish club....Nice to meet you all.....:headbang2

Welcome to MFK. I use to keep them but got into rays. What are some of the sp. you keep and what are your favorites you have?

ill give you a quick list of some of my fav. kipilli frontosa, eretmodous(all orange wild caught female and f1 male),2 utinta lepto.,2 violet,5 neon heads and one of my favorite paracyprichromis nigripinnis.Im actually looking into setting up a ray tank soon so maybe u can help

That is a nice list of tangs you have. I was into calvus, comps, and cyprichromis.

If you need help with rays this is a great place. Lots of people with lots of knowledge and first hand experience. Just be careful cause you cant stop at just one.

i beleive you because it all depends on what kinda fish group im into, but when im interested i want them all ,especially the rare ones.I also have Altos. Comp. and Calvuses

The tangs that I keep are alto calvus and comps, tropheus duboisi and cyphotilapia frontosa. =) welcome to mfk btw.

I love my Tangs.
A brief description of my setup
Tank: 55 Gallon tank (soon to be upgraded to a 120 gallon)
Filtration: Rena Xp3 canister, Whisper 60 HOB
Daytime Lighting: 2 18” 15 watt full spectrum flourescents (09:00 to 19:00)
Nighttime Lighting: 2 Coralife Aqualight 3/4W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED Light (470nm)
2 Coralife Aqualight 1W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED SpotLight (470nm) (19:00 to 09:00)
Substrate: 60 lbs of white gravel
Rockwork: 70 lbs of Lace rock for the rock work
Plants: Yes, all of the plants are artificial. The live plants were too much of a pain in the arse, so I opted to go back to the fakes. Ambulia, Hornwort, and 3 tufts of grassy looking plants.

As a further explanation of the nighttime lighting, the 2 Coralife Aqualight 3/4W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED Lights are mounted at the outer edges of the tank to provide dim illumination of the outer edges of the tank. the 2 Coralife Aqualight 1W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED SpotLights are mounted in the center angled slightly outward for a brighter illumination of the central region of the tank.

Inhabitants:
1 Cyphotilapia frontosa “Burundi”
1 Cyphotilapia frontosa “Kavalla Island Congo”
2 Altolamprologus compressiceps (Gold)
3 Altolamprologus compressiceps (Yellow)
