any other fish i could keep with a tang. cichlid community in a 55 gallon...i really would like something to occupy the upper level of the water column, just to add a little more activity. any suggestions? i would prefer to stick with the african theme...would congo tetras work? or are there any tanganyikan cichlids that prefer the upper level of the tank??? any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated

Tetras are more mid to lower level, not upper level, and I think that might look a little weird with Tang cichlids (Tetras in general) If you have a fish atlas, check out the "African section" and see what is there - Sorry I couldn't be of more help

right not i have, clown loaches, clown plecos, bumble bee catfish, and guppies. i have had tetras, crabs, and other odds and ends

peacocks will swim in all levels and are not bad with tangs... Most of them will stay toward the top if it is open, and go down to feed. In my 120 tall they stay lower to middle to high depending on the time of day. Also building rock work up to the top in the back will bring tangs that enjoy caves higher up... just a thought...

peacocks would definitely be sweet, problem being i already have about a dozen tangs, none of which are fronts, in my tank, which is only 55 gallons, the biggest of which is a tretacephalus that i know will not get any bigger than six inches. size wise, and space wise as well, i just don't think the peacocks would work..

what about an O.B. peacock. i never had one but the wife found one she likes and wants to add it to the front tank. any problems?

cyprichromis is a good idea as these are from lake tang. thier coulor is stuniing. i kept 5 females and one male it was hard to find a time when he was not displaying to the females.
