I could use any information people have about african cichlids. I have some malawi but i also have a frontosa and id like to know what kind of rocks would would be best. My frontosa is a juvenile and i currently have lava rock with a sand substrate and some live plants.

frontosa do well with smooth rounded rocks as they tend to be a bit skiddish and can bolt VERY fast across the tank and can cut or scratch them selves or even take out an eye on jagged rocks especially lava rock. i would also determine what type of frontosa you have and get him some friends
heres how i set up my 125

I got him some friends. They do great together I have two different types I think. I will try to post pics tonight. They get along and got 2 from the same breeder and they are hard to find in my area but I did manage to find one that came from Seattle. He's darker and bigger yet his body is more elongated. He also shows more blue.

the fish in the pic are gibberosa mikula, and the one in my avi is a monster moba. ive kept many variants tho.
yes they take about a year to get 5-6 inches then about an inch every year after that if kept in ideal conditions.

Very nice!! Thanks for all the info.. By chance have you ever kept blue demasonis? That is the other african that I have always been interested in and I am looking to get some. If you have any information on those it would be greatly appreciated
