I raise thousands of convicts as feeders.
I raise the black and white kind.
But there are always a few pink ones.
And some feeders don't get eaten.
Usually, I just remove them when I do
a full cleaning on the tank. They never make it
to adulthood. Trade them in to the LFS.
But some of my feeders have grown with some
very bright tangerine coloring, From the gills back.
I guess my question is, Is this normal?
I don't raise pinks, So I don't know.
Here are some pics.

they are female pinks

Females will spawn with each other. Female/female spawning is very common in Central and South American cichlids.

Yes, two females will lay eggs together, or one will lay eggs while the other does dry runs. It depends on whether or not they're both gravid. They may immediately eat the eggs, or they may defend them for two days until the eggs all fungus and die (due to infertility). My female severums and Krobia spawn all the time with one another when there is no male present. I haven't found a way to stop them, short of only allowing one fish per tank. Some will defend a territory just as aggressively as a male/female pair.

As for the orange color, yes it's normal. Some black female convicts will show a nice orange color once they mature. It's very common in the pink convicts for the females to have some degree of orange on their sides/stomachs.

Also, for further proof, visit Google Images and type in "pink female convict." You'll see a wide variety from solid white fish to bright orange and pink fish, and everything in between.
