Far far away land
Ok I have a 75 gallon tank made by aqueon. I know the bottom is tempered (because it says so lol). How do I tell if the other panels are tempered or not? I have my LFS owner and friend who said he can drill the tank as long as its not tempered glass. He said it would take ~ 30 minutes and a few beers to do. He would charge me $60 dollars for a 1 inch drain and two 3/4 returns plus the bulkheads and the return accelerators. The accelerators I can adjust to where I want the flow to go. Is that a good deal? He is suppling the beers by the way.

I just want to make sure before I have to haul the tank to him.

Usually only the bottom of tanks are tempered, but not always. I'd just call up or email the company and ask. They would know easily.

i've seen people building their own tanks here drill the hole themselves. based on what i've read(NOT personal experience), it's pretty easy as long as you're patient as it takes a while to drill through glass. explains why the guy needs 30 minutes. $60 plus transporting the tank doesn't seem worth it.

don't take my advice too heavily though :P

Well Im taking it to the drill/ shop so I don't mind. cant expect him to bring the shop to me. I got the aquarium somewhere else. I got the 75 with a pine stand and t5 lights brand new for $200 brand new. The $60 does cover the 3 holes, 3 bulk heads, 2 return accelerators and as much beer as I can drink.

He has a fish store on one side of the store and the rest is a shop for repairing tanks and just a shop.

I thought it was ok since the bulkheads are $8 a piece everywhere else + whatever price for the accelerators.

You couldn`t do it any cheaper yourself.
Just tools/parts would pass the $60 price tag, with no beer.
Most all tanks I`ve seen with warning stickers, will either state ALL panels are tempered, or only the panel the sticker is on.
