Hi i am planning to buy a 180g glass tank 6x2x2 with 3/8 glass thickness.
Front,back,sides and bottom

I will ask the maker to put two bracer on top for support.

Is it recommended to put additional two bracer on the bottom? Or is it okay without it. Also planning a bare bottom tank for easy maintenance.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about your questions but the glass thickness seems kind of thin. I have a 150 gallon with 1/2 thick glass.

his glass thickness is fine my 150 also has 1/2 inch glass but thats becuase it's an older tank built before they used center braces for extra support so the glass must be thicker

as long as he has a proper centerbrace the thickness is fine

you only need braces on the top why would you need them on the bottom ? the bottom peice of glass holds the bottom sides together however it's the top that is of course open and may need extra support

Mine has center braces!

Hi,

I am not sure about the name of the bracer. Maybe cross bracer (from front/back pane) at the bottom.
Base on garf.org it's okay to use 3/8.

Material = Glass
Tank Height = 24"
Tank Width = 24"
Tank Length = 72 "
Glass Thickness = 3/8"
Approximate Gallons = 180

I have emailed Perfecto in the past and they use 1/2" for all sides and 5/8" for the bottom of their 180's....
I wouldn't go with less thickness than is used on a mass produced tank if I was having one built...

my 150g (Aqueon brand) is made with 1/2" glass but with two braces. if yours is braceless, are you sure it isn't made with thicker glass than 1/2"? it might be 5/8"..
