Hey everyone, my tank is needing a little DIY help, Im not going to pay ridiculous amounts of money for a canopy that's just going to break again, and thats why I need some technical advice, I am competent with tools, but suggestions would help.
So Heres A picture of my tank below, right now its holding juvenile N.W Cichlids

As you can see, the original lighting fixture, after 5 years, failed on me, I tried replacing the bulb, replacing the ballast, it was a lost cause. So after a month or two of sitting in the dark, stuck a brooding lamp with a fluorescent bulb on top of the tank, it works, but , its ugly, it doesnt light the whole tank well, and it scares me to have that sort of fixture in such close proximity to the water and filters. I want a basic canopy, preferably enclosed. The amount of open water+ the waterfall affect requires me to practically need to do a top off every day, the tanks a 29 gallon and the water level lowers around .5" daily. I want to reduce and control this, and I also want a decent light, I have some plans drawn up, but was wondering if such a custom canopy had ever been done on a 29 gallon tank. Any help appreciated. Cheers!
