I know this belongs in the dyi thread but, I have a 75gal. community tank and along the lines I am going to change it into a semi-aggressive fish tank so I was wondering what fish can go into a 75 and not out grow the tank plus doesn't have to be fed feeders:popcorn:. So please ponderw what fish would live happily in it and not outgrow it. So far I got on y brain list is convicts, dats, rams(to bad they are a little small) angel fish, red tailed labeos(shark), and ghost knife please tell me if these fish are compatable. Also the fish I want to be fish that are colorful and come out of hiding sometimes and not over territorial:nilly:.

maybe two African Pikes.

Dude you have alot of cool options. I would say put some thought into what type of water parameters you want to keep, as this will affect what type of fish you can keep together.
Some ideas that come off my head at the moment
geophagus surinemsis... or most any of the geo's as they tend to be a bit more passive than some of the other south american's and stay a bit smaller.
Severums are also a good option though they tend to be a bit more testy. The problem with many of the central south american cichlids you listed or will be able to keep is that theye are never really semi aggressive, they all tend to be territorial and the only way, more often than not, to avoid seriouse aggression is to keep alot of fish so that the aggression gets dispersed among your fish. This method of fish keeping is not really recomended by me as the upkeep on a overstocked aquarium is often more of a burden than anything else. I would recomend that if you want to have a community of fish that you choose to have one showey centerpeice cichlid sorrounded by neutral none territorial fish. Or you keep a community of one type of fish like several of the geo's previously listed. But really man you have so many options, try to narrow your search a bit and im sure you will get alot of great recomendations.

Your list of fish is unfortunately not entirely compatible.

convicts - too aggressive (specially if you get a pair and they start breeding) and will probably bully the rest.

dats - grow too big and will most likely eat the rams and red tail shark.

I think rams + angels + red tail shark + BGK would probably work well and be a nice lookingcombo, but won't really be an aggressive community if that's what you're after.
