So I have three 3-4" silver aros in my 180 gallon. I notice there is some crap buildup on the bottom of the tank, and was wondering if adding some pictus catfish to the picture would be a bad idea?

They mainly stay on the bottom and wouldn't be an issue bothering the aros who mainly stay near the top right? I just am looking for some guys that will be good for clean up in between water changes.

So the options are:

Pictus Catfish
or
Clown Loaches

What would be the best? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

A member here had a small aro killed by a pictus or four lines pim cat. Wait a few months before adding any other tank mates, just up your gravel vacs.

boooooo. Aight. I have already in the meantime had to ramp up my cleanings. Which is fine. I don't even have sand in the bottom anymore in the tank cause I find it too tough to clean constantly. I know the catfish won't eat the literal "crap" I just mean the uneaten food that settles on the bottom.

Didn't realize pictus would go after aros that aggressively considering they are usually right at the water line.... C'est la vie I guess, better off to wait I guess till they are around 5"-7" before I add any friends.

Is the aro the only thing in your tank right now or what else is in there? at that size they are still pretty young and still somewhat fragile.
