Hi everyone. Im pretty new on here so forgive me if Im asking what has already been asked numerous times.
I have 4 rbp that are young...only about 2" and i was just enquiring what was best to put in with them to help with cleaning?
Someone said Plecs but i know they are s*#t machines so sometimes counter productive.
I've heard snails are good but i obviously don't want them to breed like crazy.
Suggestions please???
Im in the U.K.

Anything you put in with piranhas has the chance to become food, including snails. You could try trumpet snails. They are small and live in the substrate and will help with food bits that make in to the substrate. You could also try apple snails they are larger and eat algae.

when i kept rbp i had them with 20 black skirt tetras to clean up the mess they made. one think g i learned with piranhas was anything added to their tank was dinner but if i removed them for a few hours, added fish and changed their scape, then introduced piranhas no problem. (had them with the tetras for nearly a year amd only lost 2)

Thanks for everyone's advice.
I do keep on top of the tank maintenance but who couldn't do with a little natural help.
I did have 2 Plecs and they were great for algae (not that much appeared) but they produced loads of s#*t themselves so was kind of counter productive although the rbp's were not interested at all.
Was looking a trumpets and seem good if you can control their numbers.
Thanks again everyone.

i had 4 chinese algae eaters in with my 11, i stress "had" because i've only been seeing one lately and the sightings have been brief to say the least. they did a great job while i had them though, just provide plenty of low down hiding spots.

i've also been thinking a couple cory cats to replace the ones i've lost but i know they are fairly active and like to roam the bottom..

Howdy,

Keep trying different cleaners. Options open after yours have grown a little bigger.

I have shrimp, guppies, crabs and spotted raphaels as well as snails cleaning my piranha tank.

Trumpets may very well take over ur tank! Just be more efficient w/ ur feeding methods!
