Well it finally happened. I have my JD, 2 Firemouths , and 4 malawi cichlids. Everyone said that once My Jack got big enough he would eat the malawi's , but i think it was another malawi cichlid that killed him.

After i took out the dead cichlid and did my weekly WC it was a little cloudy. Now the 2nd day that he is gone the tank is massivly cloudy. It is a 55gal 48'' long and when i look in from the side i can just see to the halfway part of the tank.

Last week when i did my WC i changed the filter pads and it went into a small cycle, but after a day and a half it was clear again. I didn't change the pads this week so idk what is up.

Did you rinse the pads in tap water? Did you vacum the gravel? I used to vacum the gravel and rinse the pads in tap water every week then I always has a cloudy tank. Now I vacum 1 time a month and rinse the pads 1 time a month in old aquarium water instead. I stilll do my 25% weekly water change but don't touch the gravel or filter for at least a month. This cured my cloudy promblem. I think I was upsetting the bio-filter with all the cleaning but fresh water every week is always welcome. Famous discus breeder changes 80% of his tank water on his discus farm every day! (Jack Waitley).
