I recently (8 weeks) got my 300 gallon SA/CA tank up and running. I tried playsand as substrate for the stiking looks it gives.
My problem is the the water is constantly cloudy.
Yes i rinsed the sand thoroughly and filtration is a wet/dry sump and a small internal. Regular cleaning of filter pads is doing little to help so does any one have any suggestions or is it just easier to change the substrate to a heavier sand.
Pics attached.

looks more like new tank cloudyness than sand... is the tank done cycling or are you constantly re/cycling it by washing the filters out...

No mate tank is fully cycled. Ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 10 - 15
Tank has been stocked and running for 2 months.
I can see lots of material i the water therefore i have been cleaning the mechanical filter material a lot not the whole sump.

Yeah thats what i hoped and have been using a micro filter for 4 hours a day but its saturated after that amount of time so i have to clean it and put it in for another 4 hrs.
I tink i'll persist with this for a week or 2 and see if it makes a difference.
