as i was driving home from work last night my son called me and says, "i made a little mistake" now to me, this means that there is some kinda disaster at home (i wasn't wrong).
the next words of his mouth are "the smoke is almost cleared out". well, it turns out he put some candle wax on the heat tubes in the fireplace because he thought it would make the house smell good.. of course, it burnt and smoked out the house.
so the first thing i did when i drove in the driveway was open ALL of the doors and windows, and turn on all of the fans. then we proceeded to do big water changes on ALL of the tanks. it seemed like we had escaped unscathed until this evening.
i went out to the livingroom to find the 150 was kinda cloudy.. the fish didn't look upset or anquished in any way, and they were begging for food. so i tested the water, i had .50 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 80 ppm nitrate (seems high after such a big water change last night..but that's what it looked like to me).
before i even finished the water tests the tank got so cloudy i almost couldn't see the fish.
i was planning on moving all of these fish to the 210 with the big peacock bass sooner or later, but i was hesitant because 2 of the fish are rescues that have some vision problems and i was kinda worried about putting them in an environment they aren't used to.
anyway.. one of the arowanas jumped for freedom but he's ok, only lost 2 scales and everybody made the transition to the 210 safely.
probably a good thing i used my last vacation day today. new pics of the crowd in the 210 coming soon.
