i have a 75 gallon tank that's been running for 3-4 months now. i want to get a grow out tank for some of the smaller fish but dont want to wait for the tank to cycle. can i use the water from my 75g so i dont have to cycle the tank? it will be a 10g or 20g grow out tank. everything else will be new (filter, substate ect...)

Water holds very little beneficial bacteria so it wouldn't do any good, use some of the gravel or a filter pad from an established tank and that will help to cycle quicker.

i put one of the old filter pad in the new tank and put a new filter pad in the old tank. they both use the same size filter pad. how faster can the cycle process be? my flowerhorn is getting picked on by the bigger midas. i need to move the flowerhorn to a new tank asap.

If you have some time I'd simply put the filter from to soon to be growout on your 75 run it for about a week and then move the fish and filter over to your growout. Should be instantly cycled, but test with a quality liquid test kit to be sure. If needed do water changes as necessary.
