Hey all. Just a quick question before I make an purchase I may or may not regret. I've been pondering getting some some of that black plumbing pipe from the hardware store as a possible tank decoration....just giving my poly's a place to hide and play. However, I don't know if they are made out of a chemical that will outgas in the tank or if they'll be ok. I'm pretty sure that the black pipe is made out to the same pvc material as the white pipes. But, not sure. Anyway, just thought I'd ask.

Anyone have any experience with this? Also, how do I disinfect them? Just boil?:D

if you are talking about the grey colored pipe it is the same pvc just a thicker wall diameter. It is schedule 80 vs the white which is schedule 40. I have also read numerous times that krylon Fusion paint is a fish safe paint made especially for plastics.

I use the Krylon Fusion paint as I can't seem to find the sch 80 pvc in my area. Never had a problem.

SO, would I then get that PVC tubing and douse it with the Fusion paint before putting it into the tank?

Sorry for all these silly questions. I'm used to just buying premade stuff which is so expensive. The problem is that I have a very bored Golden Severum in a 75g with my two sens and a siamese algae eater. The severum thinks it's his duty to keep everyone in line, but he's stressing the sens out. Until I can figure out something with a tubing system, the Severum is in a QT by himself. :(

Just trying to make everyone happy.

Krylon fusinon in a tank huh. I'm a painter, no paint last for ever u might want to assume it will be weathed in a tank w/any flow so it could cause problems after years???? don't forget to recoat I'd say and let it CURE

goOD LUCK
