Tank Dimensions for Gulper For Life?

Well, I'm picking up my second Gulper cat hopefully on Friday. I have noticed that this is a pretty lethargic species, except for feeding time. I was really wondering what you would consider appropriate dimensions for this fish. Not really worried about the shape as this will be a custom build, done by me. Currently I have one in my 430g, but know I can go alot smaller. Thinking something along the lines of 2'x2' or 3'x3' for each fish? Whats the general consensus?

Just to clarify they are Asterophysus batrachus.
 
I wouldn't go any smaller than the 3'x3'.
