Say I wanted to build a tank where when you looked at it, it "dropped off." Meaning The front of the tank is 2" deep, then it drops to 4' to the back of the tank, like a slope/ramp. Would the acrylic thickness need to be for the 24" of depth or the 48"?

I just got a qoute for a 48" tall tank and it was 1.5" acrylic because of the water pressure as it gets taller. My 30" tall is 3/4"

The acrylic would need to withstand the pressure from the water at the lowest point that's touching it. So, if the front of the tank is 2' deep and that's where the acrylic stops while the tank continues to get deeper further back, you would only need a viewing pane that was thick enough for the 2' of water against it. If, on the other hand, the 2' was at the back of the tank and sloped towards the window down to 4', then the acrylic would have to withstand the full 4' of pressure.

Of course, the tank itself would need to handle the outward and downward pressure of the full 4' regardless of where the viewing pane was located.
