New to MFK and getting into larger fish. Have kept many large cichlids, but wondering about a silver aro. How long would a 90 be adequate?? Would eventually move to a larger tank. Any possible tankmates?

I have a 180 gal with a silver aro in and trust me even mine will get too small eventually.

A 90 gal well that all depends on how large the arowana is when you buy him ! lets say the aro is 6" when you buy him i'd say you could have a good 9 to 12 months in a 90gal they need quite a lot of swimming space.

Arowana's are great at making tankmates in mine i have a Giant redtail gourami, Golden severum, Royal clown knife, tiger shovel nose catfish, Asian redtail catfish, Convict Cichlid, Tinfoil Barb. And all these fish get a long great with each other.

I have seen silvers with discus. I have been playing with the idea lately but don't know for sure if I want to mess with the discus just yet.

First off welcome.

A 90 would be ok for a silver Aro for I think 8 months maybe. I have one in a 120 wide. Best bet for keeping them longer is a 180 or larger (if you have the room for it).

they can easily grow an inch a month untill about a foot or so, so it wont take long for a silver to outgrow a 90.

Just posted on next thread, our fish supplier(one of the best in England) has a silver over 3ft long and with a depth of at least 18".Ive never seen one this big at a fish store that has been in normal tank(by that I mean not public aquaria)Seeing how many are for sale in your average decent fish store it is a daunting thought.
