I am planning on gettin a pair of convicts and I am upgrading to a 30 gallon tank. I was wondering your thoughts on whether I should get a 30 gallon regular, or a 30 gallon bow front? I know the bow front has more depth, so I was wondering the pros and cons, and what the cichlids would like more. Thanks!

Persanlly i would get the biggest of the 2 if there is any diffrents in them , but if thers not much in size i would go for the cheapest . :)

Cichlids tend to be very territorial so with that in mind i would suggest a 30 gallon "Long" tank b/c there is more swimming room and territory for the convicts. They are very aggressive fish especially when spawning so i wouldn't add any more fish b/c they wont be tolerated. I hope this helps but im not a expert so good luck.

Height is not important when it comes to convicts. Look for the longer length tank.

x2 . . . length gives them more room for staking out territories, and since they tend to hang in the mid- to low-levels of the tank, any extra height gets wasted . . .

Get a 30 Breeder instead.

30 long, if you cant fit that, a 20 long is usually fine

length is great but you have to remember a 30L will have less width and height than a 30. Good measurements for a con tank is 30" long 12" wide personally I never buy a tank only 12" wide 18" is my minimum. I would just go 30 BRD or 40BRD. 40 is overkill but definately a solid great tank for alot of fish plus great home for cons.

Either size will be just fine if you just want a pair of Cons. Just get the one you like the most.
