HI i am planning on buying a 100 gallon (400l) tank after 3 weeks or so:)
I have already dicided what i am gonna put in it.
But after readig about your gars i just think they are so cool.
I was thinking...
What is a minimum size for...
Alligator gar
Florida gar

I know these fish grow big so i was only thinking if a one 10 to 20 inch Alligator gar or florida gar would that be ok in a 400l:headbang2

what are the dimensions..... a 180 would technically be considered the minimum though (6'x2'x2')

i would go ahead and rule the alligator gar out...they get way too big for the tank you plan on buying (roughly 4-5 feet in captivity). a florida/spotted has much easier requirements to meet, however a 100 gallon tank will not last for life. i usually suggest a 180 (6' x 2' x 2') for life and their is still a slight chance they could outgrow this. florida/spotteds tend to max out around 18-20 inches in captivity w/ a few specimens reaching the 24+ inch mark. hope this helps you.

BTW welcome to MFK.

Thanx i dont think i will ever have a gar
its so expensive here on iceland
