I have a 10 gallon tank which I will use to breed guppies. I noticed that some algae is growing, and I hate algae. Should I buy a little bristlenose pleco, or do they eat baby guppies? I plan on keeping the tank without gravel, would that be okay for the pleco?

I also heard that baby guppies might graze on algae. Is this true? Thanks.

turn the lights off and get an chinese algae eater

I have never turned the lights on for that tank. I think a chinese algae eater would be a horrible decision...sorry.

cut down on the lights and keep doing water changes, plecos never worked for me
you also might want to look into a UV sterilizer

I was thinking of a UV sterilizer...but anyway, would a pleco feel comfortable without gravel?

NO. Both would be horrible decisions. Chinese algae eaters reach 12+ inches and common plecos go 20+ inches. Do not get a fish to take care of the problem. Roll up your sleeves and take care of it. It's a 10 gallon- not that complicated.

Yup... good one! Thats what i do with my 10 gal.

I'd just buy an algae scrubber and get to work, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to clean that algae of a ten gallon.
