i think my tank heaters acting up i got a 150watt theo heater and i have it set to 83 and my tank temp isnt going up the light on it is on and im wandering why the tanks temp isnt going up do i need a new heater or is there a way i can fix it?
how big is the tank?
if the tank is too big for the heater then the heater will be next to useless for high temps.
as lupin states visitherm are great, thats what i use. not using a stealth though but they do get a lot of praise when looking around for reviews.
I have heard many complaints about Hydor Theo heaters, I would recommend upgrading to a new heater. I would personally recommend Sera heaters, I have tried many brands of heater including Via Aqua, Visitherm, Heto and Jager but have found Seras to be the most accurate temperature wise. Visitherm are also quite good.
also, what is your ambient temp of hte room, the heater can only raise the temperature so far above ambient temp. I have to use oversized heaters in my basement tanks to achieve my desired tank temp.
thanks i dont know the temp in the room but it gets pretty cold in the room there in i live in a apartment and it has base board heating which really dont heat up the place is there anything i can try and where do i get a better brand heater at i live in michigan in taylor if anyboby lives by ther and know where i could get the better heaters for the tank
petsmart carries visi-therm stealths but they are like twice the price you will pay online. What size is your tank? Normally 5watts per gallon is the rule but you're going to want more if your apartment is so cold.
