im sorry but i dont have any other picture. they are temporarily housed in a pond right now at my friend's house.

Looks like a Gator Gar to me :headbang2
Let's get some more pics

If you are getting 2 of them you may need a bigger tank than a 6x6x3
Im guessing you ment 6 feet long, 6 feet wide and 3 feet deep.
Maybe an 8x8x3 but let the other chime in here. Nice work on the rescue.

gator gar? they wud grow into 5 feet long thingys right??? how many gallons is a 3x8x8 feet tank? is that heavy?? im a gurl so i guess i need a lot of muscle to help me w that tank. haha!

IF it is a gator gar it will get huge. Can be bigger than 5 feet. But a tank of that size is huge there is a conversions calculator at the top under the MFK logo. And if its glass you will need a lot of help.

According to the gar experts here, the average size of a captive raised gator gar is less than 4' (I'm not sure whether yours can be classified as captive raised gars). A lot of people here will tell you to make a tank at a size which will be bigger than it actually needs to be. You have to do the maths yourself otherwise you will find yourself looking at an almost empty tank.

my Gar community thread down a few should have alot of the answers your looking for. and the stickies at the top should help you ID your gars. Welcome btw to being another female gar keeper! :D and if cost is an issue you may want to look into building a pond for them to help save on some cash if tanks are expensive where you are.
