Just filled my 90 gallon I bought used. I noticed that in the front right corner the water is not touching the trim like it is in the rest of the tanks. Is this safe?? I measured the top in in three seperate spots I got 18 1/4 on the left side 18 7/16 in the middle then 18 1/4 in the middle. Is this a problem? I took a level to it and its just off a little bit in this right side. Any help would be appreciated the last thing I need is 90 gallons on the floor

I don't understand. Your measurements must be across the top, no? Do you have top to bottom measurements? Are you concerned with the tank bowing or the tank being level?

Thought the tank was bowing in the right corner. I got so conccerned with is it bowing that I completely did not realize that the corner in question is sitting just a tad bit higher just with the way my basement tile is so problem solved. I was really worked up by the bowing due to it not having a cross brace but apparently it is an older tank and the thicker 1/2" glass makes up for it. So all in all I was being an idiot

Ahhh....well, if the measurements are across the top, you do have some bowing. Assuming it's equal on the front and back panel, it looks like 3/32" on each panel in the center. That's roughly 2.4mm which is not a good number. Are those across the top?

Are you sure it's 1/2" glass and that those are the across the top measurements? Sides of 18 1/4" and a center of 18 5/16" is the proper amount for a 2.5 safety factor.

Lowering the level a couple inches might correct the bow, as well as adding a brace if it is indeed deflecting too much.

It's 100% 1/2" glass. I'm measuring the top in three spots the ends are still 18 1/4" but the middles reduced to 18 3/8". I mean I've been reading up about bowing and 1/8" from what I've seen is almost natural. I mean 1/8" isn't even noticeable to the eye

surprised no center brace. every tank i got 75g and up have center braces.

After looking into it, I'm thinking that the reason you have bowing of that amount (~1.5mm on both the front and back panels) is due to not having any bracing. It's unlikely you'd be measuring much at all if it were braced (more along .3mm on each panel.)

On shorter tanks, e.g, 18-20", it's probably true that you could get much less deflection without bracing, but the 90 standard is particularly tall.
