Am considering adding another 75 gallon grow-out tank to my bonus room over my garage. Would likely have only about an inch of substrate and plastic decor/driftwood/stumps, etc. Does anyone else have this setup in a bonus room and do you think weight-wise it would be ok?

Thanks!

It all would depend on how your floor is constructed.

I agree, I haven't done much looking around yet to see how the joists run, etc. I've got my 75 and 125 downstairs supported from underneath the crawlspace, but of course that's not possible with a garage underneath. I'd think if the joints were running perpendicular to the tank, it would be ok.

If you could place it in a corner in your bonus room there should be no problem at all. If you can find out which way the joists run and you place the tank perpendicular to them, you should be able to place in anywhere, still preferably near a wall.

well it'll be on a wall regardless. the wall i'm thinking of actually backs up to the front porch steps (i.e. you come in my front door, make a U-turn to the left and go up three stairs into the bonus room) so I'm thinking there'll be plenty of support there given that it's on the side closest to the foundation for the steps and is near the main level of the house. is near a corner as well.

I'll do some more investigating...thanks for your help!
