ok, i had been thinkin about a NON DRILLED 125 gallon tank and having 2 penguin 350 biowheels for filtration...any comments on this?

my 125 is drilled with a huge wet/dry. i also have to bio wheel 330s hob's as well with a powerhead/sponge combo. i would get a good size canister filter to go with those bio wheel 350's

That's good for bio, but I would add some mechanical as well.

i think you got that backwards accually.

2 350 HOB's isn't enough.

i'd add a med-large canister filter or 2. any kind is good

IMO it depends on what your stocking in that 125 as to how much filtration you will need.

What about an Eheim 2217 filter classic plus? anybody know anything about these...?

id go a bit bigger than just one of them. it really depends what fish you want to keep. if you want a heavily planted tank you need a filter that will do 2-3 times the tanks capacity an hour. if you want mid sized community fish without plants or goldfish, 5 times an hour will be good. if you want big cichlids or monster fish (arowana, big plecos, pirahna etc) go for 7-10 times an hour.

Remember if you have a filter with a huge capacity for media, but doesnt have a high turnover, i would be better than a filter with a low media capacity but with huge turnover.
