Hey everyone,

I have a 135g tank 72,18,25. I have 2 aqua clear 110's and a fx5 for filters, I clean my tank every 2 days, about 15g each clean. Its been setup for about a year and never been crystal clear, always a tad hazy, water test's good 0am 0 nit and about 30 nitrate. cant seem to get the nitrate and lower then that. i have 2 oscars and a severum, the oscars are 9ish inches each and the severum is 7ish, i have a small pictus cat as well. i dont use carbon, could that be the problem? or becuase of the messy oscars is that how the tank suppose to be?

Thanks

the first thing that comes to mind when i hear cloudy water is, Bacteria bloom. judging from ur read outs and time of establishment, i would say its not a Bacteria bloom.

in that case, i would try Seachem purigen or even a Diatom filter if its real bad. you could always try using more finer mechanical filtration.

I have had the same problem lately but it has been from the buffer i had to use reacting with the lime in my water because of our cement water tank but i doubt you have the same cause to your problem haha. Let us no how the purigen goes and ill try it too.

Is it glass or acrylic, and is the tank material clear?

I know it sounds like a dumb question, but if your water has never been clear, I just thought I'd ask :)

I use filter floss and 15%water change weekly and mine is crystal clear. What kind of substrate do you use..?

It is glass, it looks clear looking through the front, just cloudy at the sides. i use sand for the substrate. i feed them once a day. i clean every other day because all the crap sits on top of the sand

idk if the carbon helps any, but i use alot. I would try some carbon and some filter floss. What kind of sand..? if its play sand theres the problem right there. I never had any luck with that stuff always clouded the tank and when i cleaned all the poo particles were floating ever where.
