i set up my 100 gallon tank today after its been in the garage for like 2 weeks or so.( it was like 30 degrees in there) so i set it up and now there is a leak in one of the seams. i dont know how to fix it, or if i need to get an expert

empty tank
remove the silicon from the leaking seam with a razor blade
and add new silicon which you can get from a LFS
use the search bar for a more in depth method!

I agree, you just need to replace the silicone on the inside of the tank. Its not difficult, just take a little time and elbow grease.

You need a flat bladed razor (they're sold as paint scrapers, I think), a pack of blades, and a tube of silicone. Scrape all the old silicone off the seams. It will take a long time. Then clean the seams with rubbing alcohol.
Tape off the size of the bead you want to add (painter's tape works well) and apply the silicone. Use a plastic spoon to smooth it out. Work quickly, because it starts to solidify fast and it will look awful if you try and work with it for too long.

GE silicone I window and door is what I use, it is easy to find and works well. 2 tubes should will be enough, 1 probably won't, unless you don't apply it very thick.
It stinks for a day or two, and it makes your eyes burn a bit if you stick your head in the tank while applying it.

I would recommend redoing the whole thing. New silicone will stick to properly cleaned old silicone, however it doesn't take that long to remove the silicone out of the whole tank VS just a couple of seams. I also feel better knowing all of the silicone is the same age and I shouldn't need to do it again in a year or two on a seam I skipped.
