Hey guys, my friend just got a 29 gallon tank with oak stand. We just got it set up and filled with water. It is in his room and he has a very thick carpet so it is kinda making it unstable. It is also right by his door so we are worried that if someone bumps into it it could shake and fall over. Anyone have any tips on how to make it a little more secure and stable?

Move it away from the door for starters. Also if the oak stand is shaky it needs to be replaced with an iron stand or new oak stand. 29 gallons although not a lot of water compared to some peoples tanks on here is more than enough should it come crashing down.

Hello; By shaky do you happen to mean that the tank shakes when you walk around the room or that it is unstable when you touch it with light pressure??

Getting a new stand is not n option. We bought the tank because it came with a stand and that is what he wanted. Iron is he last option we wanna do. Although 29 gallons isnt a lot, its a mess we wanna avoid. We had it filled up and it was solid, because it was on flat pavement. I think there has to be a better way to disperse the weight or possibly add more weight?

Rip up the carpet so the tank sits on bare flooring.

Not an option....

When you walk around the room its fine. Just when you lightly touch it or give it a nudge it shakes a little, not terrible, but we just want to be safe and have it sturdy. We are nervous in case someone really nails it, it might go over.

Hello; Can you fasten the stand to the wall? I did this for a tank in a doctors waiting room. The tank was stable enough, but we were concerned that a child might pull or climb on the stand. I secured it to the wall with a turnbuckle and an eye bolt.

We thought about doing that, except we really dont wanna drill into the wall. Im thinking just by adding more weight.....?
