So for my 20 gallon long I had a good filter on it, but i wanted more filtration so i took my POS 10 gallon oldschool filter and stuck it on. Basically i came back in the morning and the filter sucked half of my tank water out onto my carpet at home. I live in a basement so Im assuming its just carpet, padding, then a concrete slab. But it really stinks right now, the carpet is still damp. What i have done is set up 2 dehumidifiers, and I have a fan blowing on the damp carpet. In a day or 2 I will be moving all the furniture out where the water leaked and will be using a steam cleaner to try and dry the carpet out. What else can i do? Do you think I will have to replace the carpet if i do these things????

well thank goodness t is winter and not summer or it would really start smelling good make sure you use the steamer to suck up all that water it should be ok

should i turn the heat off in my room?
should i close the door also, or would it be better to let my room be open. Seems like the dehumidifiers would work better if my room was closed shut. I really dont want to have to replace carpet for my landlord.......

I would run the carpet cleaner sooner that later. The faster you get the water up, the better off you will be.
