I am going to be moving my75 gallon tank and the area I want to put in is not perfectly level. I was wondering what is the best options for leveling the tank. It is not way off, but I would like to get it as level as possible. The floors are hardwood floors so I was not sure if should put some sort of padding/carpet/etc underneath the entire tank and then place a little more on the side/corner that is not level.

Any thoughts are really appreciated! :)

If it is not off enough for wood blocks you can also use shims, they come in wood and metal. You put them under the corner/sides of the tank and then snap off the exposed part, so it's level but you don't see anything visible.

Do not shim the tank. That will cause uneven stress on the seals. The tank should lie as close to flat against the whole stand as possible to eliminate stress.

Instead shim the stand. The preferable method is to shim the whole side that is not level. Metal is preferable to wood.

I should have been more clear I would never shim the actual tank it was meant for the stand.

I think my only question is that when you shim the stand, are you still getting sufficient weight distribution? I am in an apartment (7in concrete floors, steel framed building) so I just want to make sure the weight distribution is still even.

As long as its properly level and shimmed it should distribute evenly.

Everyone who is suggesting shims is right, but from my own experience wooden shims start to fall apart over time when they get wet and metal shims will rust. So if you can find plastic ones. I would, they aren't going to be destroy by any water over a given time.

I used about 50-75 to level my tank, and I can't complain, they worked well.

And last thing, you shim the stand never the tank...
