ok i bought some marineland perfecto glass lids for my 75 gallon at petsupermarket but they dont fit idk what brand my tank is will i have to make them anyone have any ideas

Measure the exact dimensions that you need and surf your preferred online venders to see what brand will fit your tank... then decide if you would be better off ordering from them or buying them locally...

If all else fails you can take your measurements to a local glass shop and have glass cut. You can buy a hinge through an online retailer, (maybe) a local store or be creative and make your own.

its easy to make your own with silicone.

put the pieces next to one another, put a line of silicone across, run your finger across to spred it, let sit for 24 hours and presto.

I've never tried that. I would imagine that with regular use the silicone would tear/come off. But I've never tried it so I'm just guessing. I'll have to try that one...

If looks aren't critical for your tank, I've taken Duct tape the length of the glass, rolled it to make a buffer between the glass pieces, then Duct Taped the top and bottom with the buffer in the middle. This worked fine for a number of years. I probably replaced the Tape a few times. It was a long time ago... HPizzle's idea of silicone pinched between Duct Tape would work better than the way I did it.

More recently I've just used them with no hinge. It poses a couple of risks, but once you get used to handling it, it's as easy as using one with a hinge.

One very good reason to always use a lid... I had the guys over the other night drinking a few beers and Jason (a buddy of mine) attempted to set his beer on top of the aquarium to look at the fish... but the lid was open... bloop... I got it out quickly and had no ill effects.

...sorry for the tangent story...

it is a 75 its 48 by 18 and they were to wide to fit down in the rim im probably gonna make my own out of 1/4 inch plexiglass with stainless hinges i only have a flouresent light with aqua glow bulb it should be fine and the cost will be roughly the same as buying the glass ones thankyou very much for the help

thats just it idk what brand there no name on it i got it used i no it was made in the early 90s the stand and the tank have the date on them

If you measure the exact demensions that you need... don't round it off to "48 x 18"... measure it...

Then go to your preferred online retailer and see what they have... they will tell you what brands have the exact measurements as yours. Then you will know what brand(s) will fit yout tank and you can buy them wherever you choose...
