Hey Guys,

Ok, so at the moment I have a 20Gal with 4x Firemouths (about 1.5 - 2") and a female Con same size.

I Also have a 55 gal set up with;
- 1x Vieja synspila 5"
- 1x Salvini 4"
- 1x Male con 3"
- 2x Texas Cichlids 3"

So I want to:
1. Move the Fire mouths to the 55 and maybe pick up 1 or 2 more

2. Move the Cons to the 20gal to breed

3. Move the Vieja and Salvini to an unused 75Gal I have sitting in the garage

4. Trade the Texas Cichlids back to a LFS for credit.

Now I am wondering what would make a good tank mate for the Vieja and Salvini who will be in the 75 Gal?

I was thinking maybe a Jack Dempsey?

I am not really sure so I thought I would ask here and see what some people suggest.

Cheers Guys

hrmm....well an adult Salvini, Blackbelt, and JD in a 75...that sounds like somefish is gunna get killed, and just cramped anywho. Prolly work until the fish reach maturity...chance it would work for longer.

I would only keep the Synspilum in the 75g. They can get huge. Add tank mates at your discretion, but keep in mind there will be some aggression.

A dempsey won't be able to hang IMO. Something tougher, smaller. A convict perhaps? I would add a school of dithers, a dozen giant danios or some hardy tetra or barb like Buenos aires tetras or something if you just want movement. Keeping the stock light will make it much easier to maintian water quality as well.

Yeah I thought it might be a problem when they get abit larger.

They seem to be growing pretty slow so it might work for a while, but I will wait and see what others suggest before I make a decision.

Cheers for the input.

Tex will need the 75 to themselves if u keep them

Keep your Texas cichlids in the 75. They get big, can you sex them?

I am not attached to the Texas, they aren't really my thing (have had them 8 months). So I will definetly be taking them back no matter what I decide, thanks for the suggestion though.
