Hey everyone,
I have a 65g cichlid tank and was wondering if botia dario would be a safe bottom dweller in the tank. I dont want to add them just to have them get eaten, but I haven't seen many cichlid tanks with them. Im wondering if this is just because the clown loach is more popular, or whether there is an issue with these fish being preyed on.

Any input would be appreciated

2, 2.5in green Severum

At this size, assuming you get darios that are at least 2in when you get them, I think they'd be ok. The only thing they might be a problem is that your cichlids will grow faster than the dario, and may leave them behind. Plus, they may max out at only 4-5in, though some sources say 6-7in. I used to have some, before an unfortunate event wiped out that whole tank:( I plan on getting more, just haven't tracked them down yet. They are more shy than some of the botia loaches, ime, so get a decent size group, at least 6 or 7.
