I was given a 40 breeder with an 8yr old, 20 inch snowflake eel. He was very aggressive but I have been working with him and his is improving. I am setting up a 90g for him and I was wondering what I should/should not try to put with him. I am hoping that he calms down a bit more once he has more space. He is getting more food now too so that helps. What is best to be feeding an eel this size though? I have heard of feeding them tilapia but is freshwater fish okay for him to eat?

These eels tend to be fairly non aggressive towards fish, in the wild they primarily feed on crustaceans. This eel will really appreciate, the 90g you are setting up. As far as diet I would try to feed mostly crustaceans(raw shrimp, prawn, etc), with occasionally a silverside or two(generally most people add vitamins to any food being offered). I also have raised crayfish, cherry shrimp and guppies for this Moray. Chunks of fish are fine on occasion(tilapia, Pollock, etc),strips of squid and clams. I have heard to stay away from krill. Typical most people feed twice a week. Really the main foods to avoid are land based proteins. Also research thiamese deficiency. Hope this helps.
