i wanted to get a tankmate for my flower horn but dont kno what to get because i have heard there really aggresive . i have a 55 gallon tank.:)

how is it that people on youtube often have a bunch of fishes with their flowerhorns? my guess is theres alot of casualties in there

Overstocking a tank reduces chances for them to claim territory kinda like with African Cichlids.

With you tank size I would say none, anything you put in there will either end up killed or end up killing the flowerhorn.

55 gallon is gonna be too small for your FH...I mean it will work...it will be kinda tight for your fish when it gets bigger...and if you want tank mates a 55 will only work for a breeding pair...In order to have tank mates you will most def need a bigger tank....
now if you had the right setup you could have many different types of tankmates silver arowana's, plecos, catfish, parrots, t-barbs, loaches...if you want fish with similar body shape they will have to be able to hold there own and be just as agressive...idk it works for me i have a 135 and it house a bunch of FH and Im getting my tank ready to add 2 silver aro's so good luck

but yeah some at least will be killed. my point though is that if there is only one fh he would be intimadated to attack any particular fish because if they are all the same kind they will gang up against the different one. you will have problems though doing something like this if you are not experienced with cichlids.

I would not reccomend trying to put anything but a big pleco with your fh unless you are experienced and have more than one cichlid tank. because if it dosent work you will have to move them and theres no way to know if it will work
