So I am going to upgrade my Mbu to a 270 in the near future. Right now he lives with 18 mollies 2 tetras 2 angel rams and a common pleco with never any problems. So I wanted to do some community cichlids, but I know pretty much nothing about them. I currently does Cichlid salts for my Mbu at the levels approriate for lake tanganyika. My was hoping someone could give me a starting point for god community Ciclids that are colorful and non aggressive. I was planning on doing a sand bottom, with one side decorated with driftwood and the other side decorated with river rocks. Any ideas to sart with so I can narrow down my reserach is much appreciated.

Mbu's are very aggessive and are best kept alone. You can not keep community cichlids with them. I have no idea how you have not had any problems with its tankmates...how big is it?

mbu's are one of the more peaceful puffer specie, its fahaka's that u have to watch out for

I personally have never seen mbu puffers kept successfuly with tankmates

wow what a mix i can't see any mollies beatifull mbu to my knowledge mbu are from rivers and african cichlids are from various lakes so theres no need for any lake tanganyika salts

mbus are usually pretty gentle. ive owned about 5 mbus i never had an aggresive one that cant live with tank mates. there were a few that couldnt live with certain tankmates though. and ur mbu is frickkn fat for 7" i love it.

That is waterboy's Mbu not mine. He is pretty fricken sweet though.

I use the salts in preparation for keeping him with some ciclids. I figured if he had an unusual reaction to it I could stop and not hurt any tank mates or have to set up a ciclid only tank. It was more of ry it out first buy fish second thing.

So far I am looking at lemon and blue ciclid.
