I would like to get an Asian Arowana or Australian Arowana (Jardini) for a new tank I'm setting up and was wondering what specie, if any, make good tank mates for either of the two. I understand that Jardini are more aggressive, but are there any fish that can handle them? I have one tank with a silver arowana, peacock bass, spotted gar, rtc, jack Dempsey, four blood parrots, and a pleco so I know how silver aro's are but I don't know much about their Asian and Australian cousins.

Jars are difficult, at best, to comm. Asian aros are illegal (federally banned). For a comm arrangement, look at the african aro and S. leichardi.

I'd get rid of the RTC. If I had a $ for every RTC eating an aro complaint, I could buy Sea World.

Whatever additional aro you choose, count on some aggression from the silver. He'll be defending his perceived territory from any conspecific species

If you get a jardini, you won't have lunch with much. It will harass the bass and cichlids. I've had luck with a jardini and gars and rays for short periods of time, but was forced to sell the jardini because it would attack my bass.

Jardini are always a gamble bass and most cichlids will get seen off eventually (my latest jars just killed my red Texas over night ) , the best tank mates for an angry jar are big catfish IMO they tend to leave bottom dwellers alone (most of the time not always ) I have had luck with birchirs too my last jar picked one up a few times and dropped it and that was it , my current one leaves the birchir well alone (I think its the slime coat ) , I have been successful with a few cichlids like big jags as long as they've got a jar proof retreat to go to when things get heated

All Jardini are mean...Jordy only had a SynoAngelicus & a RedSliderTurtle left with my Jardini, before my last Jardini(last one by himself)
