I am getting some Bifasciatum tomorrow and was wondering what would make a good tank mate for them. I am really wanting to get a pike of some sort.

I would go like sized midas.

I keep my Bifas with a Regani, Melanurus, GT, Midas, clown loaches, and some rainbowfish without any problems. Mine aren't too aggressive, just make sure they can't swallow it. The Midas is the youngest and smallest of them all, but so far he's ok with everything. It's all going to depend on the temperament of your individual fish. I wouldn't try Amphs or Parachromis though in general if you want to be relatively safe though.

Yeah. I figured I would try. I got the first Bifa (I have 2) last year around Jan or Feb at about 1.5". It's well over 10" now, the alpha of my tank, and still pays no attention to the Rainbows. I had one Rainbow die overnight a few months ago, and one more rainbow die due to aggression between them, but the others are still perfect. They're incredibly fast, and my fish ignore them 99% of the time anyway.

I had a pair of Bifa's with several other cichlids and misc fish; Texas, Oscar, JD, Severum, various catfish, Salvini, and yes, a couple of Pikes (a Lenticulata and Johanna).

I've seen some people keep Lyonsi with bifas and other paraneetroplus/vieja. I'll be able to let you know how weel it works in a couple months, as soon as I put some size on my Lyonsi ;)
