planning a tank around a group of 4 c. regani... what should i put in a 40 gallon tank with them? will german blue rams be ok? what about cories, yo yo loaches, and schooling fish like tetras?

most of those sound alright i think... just make sure to get some of the bigger tetras. neons probably will be food.
We'll i could see a few problems with the 4 pikes i doubt that they will all get along and if you get a pair then there will be problems with the remaining pikes
You could try larger tetras, loaches, and corys for tankmates i would be carefulwith adding other cichlids german blue rams could work but they aren't very tuff and may get beat up by the pikes

sounds good but like people have pointed out alot of potential problems id say make sure u got a back up home for some if any tihng goes wrong mayb some giant danios fast and fairly big? idk good luck with ur pikes
I have kept meaner dwarves with rams without issue. Regani are probably the mildest of the group. But if you are worried, dwarf acaras (Laetacara curciveps or L. dosigera) are a bit bulkier and fiestier.
